Notoriously private actor Ben Affleck made some brutal remarks about why his romances usually end up failing in a 1999 interview.
The interview, which was published in Playboy magazine, is doing the rounds again amid Affleck's divorce from wife of two years, Jennifer Lopez.
For months there had been rumors that their relationship was on the rocks, and Lopez went on to file for divorce last month.
The 'Get On the Floor' singer was quite open about her rekindled romance with Affleck when they got back together in 2021, and even released self-funded documentaries called The Greatest Love Story Never Told and This Is Me... Now: A Love Story which revealed a lot about the pair's relationship.
Meanwhile, Affleck seldom lifted the lid on their marriage - apart from in an interview with Kevin Hart on his show Hart to Heart over the summer where he made some rare remarks about Lopez.
But his reserved approach to his private life is a far cry from his younger self, who was seemingly more candid about his romances.

In the 1999 Playboy interview, Affleck shared why his relationships often fail and noted that they 'never end well'.
"I think what happens is, I end up wanting to be out of the relationship," the then 27-year-old shared.
"During the course of a relationship, if you get dissatisfied and unhappy and don't say something, if you don't deal with it right then, it just festers and stays there.
"So instead of saying, 'Look, don't do that, please don't act this way,' I go along with it until I just don't want to be in the relationship at all.
"Then I create some incident or do something or just don't call. And then she's p*ssed."

Affleck went on, as per MailOnline: "I can't necessarily blame her at that point since I've developed such a passive-aggressive rage that I have no sympathy and tell her, 'Well of course I didn't call you. If you weren't such a nagging, shrewish harpy I'd call you.'"
The Air star added that he was hoping that this was something he was 'growing out of', and he seemingly did so as in 2005, he wed 13 Going On 30 favorite Jennifer Garner.

EXCLUSIVE: New York attorney Evan Schein has weighed in on Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's divorce.
'Bennifer' fans across the globe were left heartbroken last week after Jennifer Lopez officially filed for divorce after two years of marriage to Ben Affleck.
Lopez filed the papers on August 20 - exactly two years on from the celebrity couple's lavish wedding ceremony in Georgia.
There had long been rumors that their marriage was on the rocks in the months leading up Lopez filing for divorce, with Affleck and the Atlas actress putting their Beverly Hills mansion on the market last month .
More information has come to light about the A-list pair's separation since Lopez filed, including that they officially split back in April.
In regards to the reason cited for their break-up , the 55-year-old put 'irreconcilable differences'.
Explaining exactly what this means, Evan Schein of New York-based family law firm Berkman Bottger Newman & Schein told UNILAD: "Irreconcilable differences are essentially no fault divorce and allows one spouse to file for divorce without alleging grounds or fault. This is the widely used term to file for divorce. "
Schein also commented on the fact that Lopez filed the papers without a lawyer representing her.
Admittedly, a person not being with their partner every second of the day isn’t great evidence for a split.
But fans have continued to question whether actor Ben Affleck is still with his wife, singer Jennifer Lopez.
The rumors have essentially been sparked by the fact the pair - who first dated in the early noughties and split in 2004, before rekindling in 2021 and marrying in 2022 - haven’t been together at all recently, well, at least publicly.
The celebrity couple were last photographed together in public on 30 March, when they were seen holding hands in New York City, but speculation has spiraled since then as they've kept their relationship out of the spotlight.

Rumors were only fueled further on 15 May when an insider told In Touch that the relationship was actually 'over'.
“They waited almost two decades to get back together, but in the end, they just couldn’t make it work,” the source claimed.
“They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him, and he can’t change her. There’s no way it could have lasted.
"He’s focusing on his work and his kids now. Ben already moved out and they’ll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for. "
Since then, Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner was seen visiting the star.
She was driving up to Affleck’s his new $100,000-a-month rental in Santa Monica, California, according to the Mail Online.

This has further pushed the rumors that he and J Lo have split as he is not currently at the couple’s shared home in Los Angeles.
Garner and Affleck were married between 2005 to 2018 and share three kids together - Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12, so a visit wouldn’t be completely out of the question.
As she drove up to the home, it did not appear that the 13 Going On 30 actress came to the home with any of their children, however.
This is especially true as the pair met earlier in the day at Samuel's basketball game, although they did not leave together. Lopez was not in attendance.

Officially filing for divorce from Ben Affleck on August 20, Jennifer Lopez has since taken to her social media and well, it certainly seems she's not held back.
The Maid in Manhattan star filed legal documents in Los Angeles County Superior Court last month citing 'irreconcilable differences' in her filing.
And it would appear the pair are both moving forward with their own lives with a representative for Affleck having to address rumors the actor is dating Kathleen 'Kick' Kennedy, the 36-year-old daughter of politician Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
And J Lo has since taken to Instagram to share a series of images, many of which appear to convey how she's been doing over the summer and since news broke of the break-up.

The third image is of the star licking an ice cream, the following, a mirror selfie with sister Lynda Lopez, fifth, a rather adorable-looking kitten poking it's head out from behind a Super Mario backpack.
Sixth are some kids at what looks like a yard sale, seventh a cute dog wearing a little outfit, eighth, a close-up of a kitten and kid, ninth a selfie of J Lo in the sun, smiling with some big shades on.
Tenth we have a picture of a comfy outfit and some slippers laid out, the top reading 'Blessed mam,' the eleventh is another mirror selfie, however, with J Lo facing with her back to the mirror. Twelfth is a bubble bath which is more bubble than bath, oh and thirteenth is when it gets real juicy.

Meanwhile, Lopez was spotted entering a dance studio last Thursday (16 May), though eagle-eyed fans did notice she was still wearing her wedding ring.
Suspicions were raised even further after Lopez 'liked' a brutal break-up post on social media .
The post on Instagram went into the principle of how someone needs to look after themselves as well if they want to build a healthy relationship.

It read: "You can not build a relationship with someone who is disconnected from themselves.
"We can not expect someone to see us when they can not even see themselves.
"Getting in a relationship is the easy part. Nurturing and fostering it is a different story.

Amidst all of the speculation, Lopez is promoting her newest film Atlas by doing a bunch of media interviews.
And in an interview with PEOPLE, Lopez opened up on about how she can resonate with her latest character.
"We are so different because she, like, doesn't wear any of her emotions," she told the outlet.
"She's so closed off and I am too much emotion sometimes ... at times. She was very sure. She was like, 'This is what's happening, please listen to me. Please tell me.' And felt very misunderstood at times. I can also relate to that a bit. "

Reports from 'insiders' have been conflicting, with another claiming that they are not splitting but are 'working on their relationship'.
Meanwhile, another source claimed that Affleck has moved out of the pair's marital home, a claim that's been backed up by TMZ who reported Affleck was spotted leaving another home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles .

Lopez and Affleck first met in 2001 on the set of Gigli , and after an initial relationship did not work out, they eventually reunited and married in Vegas in 2022.

Affleck and Lopez hadn't been photographed together in public since March 30, as the pair were spotted holding hands together in New York City . That was until May 19 when the pair were seen 'all smiles' photographed in a car together.
Reports from 'insiders' have been conflicting, with another claiming that they are not splitting but are 'working on their relationship'.
Meanwhile, another source claimed that Affleck has moved out of the pair's marital home, a claim that's been backed up by TMZ who reported Affleck was spotted leaving another home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles .
"He's focusing on his work and his kids now. Ben already moved out and they'll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for," the source said.
Lopez and Affleck first met in 2001 on the set of Gigli , and after an initial relationship did not work out, they eventually reunited and married in Vegas in 2022.
