First trailer for live-action Minecraft movie featuring Jack Black and Jason Momoa has dropped

The first trailer for the live-action Minecraft movie is here

The first trailer has been released for the Minecraft live-action movie starring Jack Black and Jason Momoa.

The film, which is expected to release early next year, is based on one of the most successful video games of all time.

The cast also includes Orange is the New Black star Danielle Brooks, and will be directed by Jared Hess.

This film will be one of the first Jack Black projects since the break-up of Tenacious D, prompted by his creative partner Kyle Gass making a risqué joke about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump .

Plans for an adaptation of the hit game have been publicly announced since 2014, with the movie having a long road to becoming a reality.

Here is the official trailer:

The trailer reveals that, rather than try and meet in the middle between reality and the game, the animation for the world will be styled in the same way as the game.

The reaction has been overwhelmingly negative, with some fans calling it 'atrocious' and even going so far as to beg that Warner Brothers did not release the film.

Whilst Warner Brothers have previous for it with Coyote vs Acme and Batgirl, it's unlikely due to the film's massive $ 150 million budget.

One fan tweeted: "Turn this into a Tax write off instead of Coyote vs. Acme"

Another said: "DO NOT RELEASE THIS."

A third tweeted: "Who decided this needed to be live action? Fire them."

Particular reactions have focused on Jack Black as Steve, with many unconvinced by what they've seen so far.

One said: "I'm crying they deadass just said 'Here, just wear this blue shirt'".

Another tweeted: "So Jack Black playing Jack Black," while a third said: "All I can picture is them walking around a green screen with the studio lights, this really should have just been a completely animated feature."

Not everyone was so negative though, with one film fan writing: "Looks way, way better than I expected. I like that it does not suffer from the course of movies looking gray and orange all the time. It's pretty colorful."

Another simply said: "I'LL BE THERE."

When asked about his preparation before the movie, Black told Gamesradar: "Oh, you know I'm playing Minecraft all the time. Whenever I'm not filming I'm playing Minecraft because an actor prepares.

" I like to be in that Minecraft headspace. I like to know the rules, and I like to get little, like, things like, 'Oh, in the game you pickaxe like this. You hit stuff like that, 'then I do that in the movie.

"I think the members of the Academy will appreciate my research later. I do not want to jinx it, but I'm pretty sure I'm getting an Oscar for this one."

Fans have noticed the Snow White trailer has received a lot of dislikes since it was uploaded earlier this month  Lucy Devine  The controversy over Disney's live -action Snow White remake is rumbling on after the trailer set an unwanted record.  Earlier this month,  Disney  unveiled the first official trailer during its D23 Expo.  The teaser has been out for around three weeks and has so far managed to hit a milestone number of dislikes.  In the trailer, Rachel Zegler - who plays  Snow White  - can be seen singing the film's well-loved track 'Whistle While You Work' as she dances around with the seven dwarfs - here reimagined as 'magical creatures'.  The trailer ends as Snow White reaches out for the apple - and we all know how that ends, right?  Although some Disney fans are looking forward to the release of the  movie  next March, it also received a great deal of criticism, which seems to be reflected in the number of dislikes the trailer has received.  One viewer wrote on X: "Congratulations to the live action Snow White trailer on reaching 1 MILLION DISLIKES!"  Steph Anie  @mynerdyhome  ·  Follow

Congratulations to the live action Snow White trailer on reaching 1 MILLION DISLIKES! 4:38 PM · Aug 29, 2024

Since the movie was announced, it's received a fair bit of bashing online, with some fans taking offense to comments Zegler made about the original 1937 movie .

In an interview with Extra TV, Zegler revealed she wasn't a major fan of the original Disney princess and even dubbed the prince 'a stalker'.

"The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so. There's a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird! Weird! So we didn't do that this time," Zegler said.

"We have a different approach to what I'm sure a lot of people will assume is a love story just because we cast a guy in the movie.

" All of Andrew [Burnap] 's scenes could get cut, who knows? It's Hollywood , baby! "

She added:" I just mean that it's no longer 1937.

"She's not going to be saved by the prince and she's not going to be dreaming about true love.

"She's dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be and the leader that her late father told her that she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave, and true."

Other criticism about the movie stems from the title of the film - Snow White, instead of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Disney explained that it wanted 'to avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film' adding that 'we are taking a different approach with these seven

. inclusion in the media industry, said the casting was 'a missed opportunity to make a movie with seven little people where they actually have intended characters.'

Netflix has dropped the first trailer for the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series

The trailer comes five years after the series was first announced. Stewart Perrie Netflix has dropped the first trailer for the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series. The show has been in the works for ages and we've finally been thrown a bone.It was first announced all the way back in 2018, so fans have been very patient.

It's based on the hugely popular animated series of the same name, which first premiered back in 2005.

There were only three seasons and 61 episodes of that program and it ended in 2008.

It is one of the very rare shows that has a 100 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and everyone is in agreement that it's nothing short of incredible.

But now it's been turned into a live-action series and it looks absolutely incredible.

The synopsis is stated as: "The series is set in a war-torn Asian and Arctic-inspired world where certain people can 'bend' one of the four classical elements - water, earth, fire, or air.

" Aang, the ' Avatar 'and the last living Airbender, is the' bridge 'between the mortal and spirit worlds, and the only one capable of bending all four of the elements.

"The Avatar maintains the balance of the world and nature to bring peace, and Aang is now faced with the responsibility of ending the ambitions of the militaristic Fire Nation to conquer the world.

" With his new companions Katara and Sokka, Aang sets out to master the four classical elements while pursued by the exiled Fire Nation crown prince Zuko, who seeks to regain his honor by capturing him. "
The show is due to drop on Netflix on February 22 next year.
