Horrifying simulation shows what really happens to your body when you vape

There's terrifying and then there's Pompeii terrifying ... I know which one I'd prefer to experience Britt Jones A horrifying animation showed the terrifying final moments that the people of Pompeii experienced when the volcano erupted. The Pompeii disaster of 79 AD is something that most people are fascinated by. The eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Italy , has been regarded as one of the deadliest eruptions in history and killed around 16,000 unsuspecting citizens who lived underneath. Man visits volcano with blue lava Credit: Reddit / NO_IM_THE_BATMAN 0 seconds of 43 secondsVolume 90% Not only would it have been the most horrifying noise to encounter, but looking up would only prove to be a thing of nightmares as the towns realized that they were about to meet their deaths. Those who were unfortunate enough to be unable to escape the death trap would have been bombarded with clouds of super-heated gases, molten rock that hailed from the skies and hot ash that scorched everything it touched.
It's not an ideal way to die and is probably one of the worst ways to go.
The catastrophic event destroyed multiple Roman towns and settlements and buried citizens beneath pyroclastic flows, which sealed them and artefacts in their own mini casing tombs.
If you've never seen a volcano of that magnitude erupt with 100,000 times the thermal energy of the atomic bombs dropped in Japan in WW2 , you're not alone because if you did, you're unlikely to have escaped in time.
If you're morbidly interested in what it would have been like to experience, here's the video:
Then the Grand Palais museum in Paris decided to showcase the horror of the ancient event to people in 2020, visitors probably did not know what to expect.
Digital Projection teamed up with French integrator ETC Onlyview to bring the exhibition to the museum, which showed the historical city, before, after, and most terrifyingly, during the dramatic eruption.
Unfortunately, the exhibition has now closed so you are out of luck if you do happen to be bopping about Paris.
But thanks to the magic of social media , people have been able to view the animation that drew people to the museum.

The sites have fully intact streets, with some of them even having murals inside the buildings, being very well preserved - even intact in some places.
However, it's best to not take anything from these sites - which is what happened to one tourist who took a piece of 'cursed' volcanic rock from the site before swiftly returning it.Featured Image Credit: X / @ ItalyinFrance

'Terrifying' video shows how long blood vessels are if they were outside the body

It's a lot longer than you expect, as we have a hell of a lot of blood vessels Joe Yates Have Have you ever wondered how far your blood vessels could stretch if you tied them all together one after another? No? OK, you're normal. But if you have, there's nothing wrong with that - I'm sure Hannibal Lecter has thought it in the past. The human body is made up of thousands of blood vessels. (Getty stock image) Well, a YouTuber has uploaded a short animation to his channel showing people just how long blood vessels are if they were outside the body - and it is fascinating, albeit terrifying. The unsettling video is the creation of Zack D. Films and it has got people talking online. Speaking in the video, he says: "If you somehow removed all of the blood vessels in your body and tied them together, you might think it would be about this long [the length of a football field]. " But the human body has Thousands of these tiny vessels that weave in and out of every body part and with all of them combined, if you started in New York your blood vessels would make it all the way to the Grand Canyon. " OK, I'll butt in here - you're telling me that with a bit of modification I could be thousands of miles tall , but really dead. New York and the Grand Canyon is over 2,000 miles.

He went on: "It would go on to reach all the way across the Pacific Ocean over Japan , Asia and all of Europe and not only would it make it all the way back to your starting point, but it would be able to make this trip two to four times over. "
No way can all this stuff fit in our bodies.
There has to be an error here somewhere ... surely?
Not according to the British Heart Foundation, which confirmed adults have around 60,000 miles of blood vessels in our bodies - enough to circumnavigate the globe at least twice.
One of Zack D's fan explained how this is possible in the comments.
They wrote: "For anyone thinking how this is possible: It is because our body has some capillaries which are about [three to four micrometers] thick and they are literally everywhere in the body in every corner of every organ, muscle, glands etc. "
For those of us who aren't in the know, a micrometer is one millionth of a meter.

Horrifying simulation shows what really happens to your body when you vape

Vaping can have a 'paralytic effect' on your body, and what it does to your organs is pretty gross Niamh Spence It's not exactly new news to say that vaping comes with some pretty horrendous side effects, but now you can actually see what the chemicals do once inside the body and it's pretty horrifying. The horrors of long-term vaping are widely spoken about in this day and age, including tragic stories like a man who was given a one percent change of surviving after developing a vaping addiction, or a 17-year-old having a five-and -a-half hour surgery to remove part of her lung after vaping the equivalent of 400 cigarettes per week. According to the NHS website, the full effects of vaping on the body are still being discovered. The effects of long-term vaping are still being determined, but it's thought to have a devastating impact on the lungs and body (Getty Stock Image) The website reads: "Research on vaping related harm is rapidly developing. Current evidence suggests vapes are less harmful than smoking tobacco products, but they are not risk free. "Most vapes contain nicotine, which is highly addictive. They also often contain other ingredients like propylene glycol, glycerine and flavors. " Yet now, a new YouTube video has shown exactly what happens when the chemicals from a vape enter the body, and the effects are devastating. In the video, shared by The Infographics Show, it shows how the chemicals target the lungs and can create build up on the mucus and alveoli. A simulation has depicted the impact of vaping on the body, including the lungs.

It is described as having a 'paralytic effect' on the lungs and the cilia, which can then take weeks to heal.
The concern is also that when these cilia are damaged, it can mean the body is open to more infections and illnesses too.
One of the major concerns for vapes is that due to the flavors and styles, there's been huge interest from teenagers and under 18s.
According to the Truth Initiative , a study last year found that 4.6 percent of middle school students (ages 11-14) and 10 percent of high school students (ages 14-18) have said they have used e-cigarettes or vapes.

In the US , this equates to almost 2.13 million students, with a further 11.4 percent of middle school students and 29.9% of high school students reporting they use vapes daily.

Whilst the full dangers of long term vaping is yet to be known, studies are beginning to identify the damage.
In a recent study published online in The Journal of Nuclear Medicine, researchers observed participants who were e-cig users and non-smokers to compare lung inflammation.
It was found that e-cigarettes were associated with lung inflammation and inflammatory lung disease, which, according to Very Well Health, can cause wheezing, breathing problems, and chest pain and tightness.Featured Image Credit: Getty Stock Images / YouTube / The Infographics Show

The animation shows what it would have looked like for the towns beneath when the volcano erupted and the few seconds of life they had left before they were overcome by pyroclastic flows.
After the eruption, a plume of black smoke is seen billowing out of the volcano before molten rocks fall on the city below.
From the view of the animation, the pyroclastic flows can be seen rapidly moving down the mountain before consuming the house.

Diver shows what you should do if a shark approaches and it's the opposite of what everyone expected

The video showed a safety diver demonstrating how to safely deal with an approaching Tiger Shark Kit Roberts Video shows a safety diver demonstrating how to properly handle an approaching Tiger Shark. So-called for their distinctive striped sides, Tiger Sharks are one of the species of shark which can be dangerous for humans. They are large predatory sharks that grow to around five meters in length when they reach maturity. Tiger Sharks have a huge range of food sources that they feed on, including sea turtles, dolphins, fish, and even other sharks.
They are also the species with the second highest number of recorded fatal attacks on humans , after the Great White.
However, it is important to note that these are still exceptionally rare, with animals such as bees, wasps, and dogs having higher numbers.
Some tourist diving spots even offer dives specifically to dive with Tiger Sharks, which includes instructors to monitor the sharks during the dive.
But while sharks in these areas are accustomed to humans and live in clear, shallow water, divers still need to take great care around them, as this video shows.

While they are very large predatory animals, Tiger Sharks usually approach a human out of curiosity, not aggression.
The video shows the proper way to respond to this, starting off by showing how not act with a Tiger Shark.
What not to do is to behave 'like prey', such as splashing a lot or seeming like you're trying to escape the shark.
This will only make the shark think that you might be something tasty, which is obviously not what you would want it to think.
What you should do is face down the Tiger Shark, giving it the impression that you too are an ocean -going terror from the deep.
If this does not work and the shark continues to approach you, there is one final thing that you can do to protect yourself.

Needless to say, do not do this if you're not a professional. (Stephen Frink / Getty)
However, it was also made clear that this is very much a last resort tactic if the shark approaches you.
This is to place your hand on top of the shark's nose and push it down away from you, before letting it swim past.
In diving, the technique is called 'redirecting', and just lets the shark get on with its swimming and eating, though eating something else.
People were left saying the same thing after watching the video, with one writing on social media : "I will just stay away from the water lol," while another posted: "How about just never ever go swimming where there are sharks?"
A third joked: "Unless the shark climbs out of the water and lays on a sun lounger, I think I'll be ok." Featured Image Credit: @ mermaid.Kayleigh via Storyful
