Jenna Ortega addresses viral moment after she defended Winona Ryder in front of 'rude' photographers

The Beetlejuice Beetlejuice stars were posing at Venice Film Festival when photographers began yelling orders Emily Brown Jenna Ortega has spoken out about a viral video in which she was spotted defending Winona Ryder from photographers yelling orders at her . Ortega and Ryder have been spending a lot of time in front of cameras recently thanks to their ongoing press tour for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which also stars Michael Keaton, Catherine O'Hara and Willem Dafoe. The movie had its premier at Venice Film Festival on August 28, so Ortega, Ryder and O'Hara were among those walking the red carpet and smiling for the cameras. Ryder and O'Hara both wore sunglasses as paparazzi snapped away, but one video caught photographers shouting at Ryder to take off the shades. "Without sunglasses !," they yelled, prompting Ryder to move her hand to her face. But before she gave in altogether, she hesitated and turned to Ortega, who was posing next to her.

Ortega then reassured her co-star that she did not have to listen to the orders, simply saying: "No, you do not have to."
Viewers quickly became obsessed with the clip, with one Twitter user writing: "I'd say the shouting sounded pretty rude." That's no way to talk to someone, let alone ask for something. "

Another responded: "Jenna you ICON !!"

The moment became a talking point when the stars of the movie sat down for an interview with Hits Radio UK, though Ortega clearly did think it was that big of a deal and was surprised to learn the moment had gone viral. "

They were screaming 'take the glasses off', and I was like 'uhhh'.

"And Jenna's like, 'no, you do not have to do that'. And it was amazing."

Ortega insisted her simple comment was 'nothing to praise or applaud', adding: "You do not have to take your glasses off. It was hot, they looked cool."

O'Hara admitted that she did 'succumb' to the photographers at one point, but she soon followed in her co-star's footsteps and put them back on.

Ortega went on to point out that it was 'easier' for her to reassure Ryder than it would have been to ignore the photographers if they were shouting the same orders. at her.

Ryder agreed, saying: "If they were screaming that at her? I would've lunged at them."

The stars were praised for their heartwarming reaction to the situation, with one viewer commenting: "Still haven't recovered from how wholesome these three are."

Another added: "Winona is just so precious I love her. These 3 women are such powerhouses I can not wait to see Beetlejuice!"

Fans spot heartwarming moment between Jenna Ortega and Winona Ryder as they posed for photographers

The actors play a mother and daughter in the Beetlejuice sequel Yasmeen Hamadeh Jenna Ortega and Winona Ryder aren't beating the mother-daughter allegations. The pair have recently teamed up for Tim Burton's highly-anticipated sequel to Beetlejuice, titled Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
(one can only fear what would happen if there was a third film), and have commenced their press run for the flick.

In the sequel, Ortega and Ryder play a mother and daughter , with Ryder reprising her role as Lydia Deetz and Ortega playing her daughter Astrid.

The film follows the Deetz family as they return to their home in Winter River after an unexpected tragedy.

But when Astrid accidentally says Beetlejuice's (Michael Keaton) name three times, the familiar foe returns with a whole new brand of chaos to unleash.

While the film is slated for a September release, it had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival today and fans are losing it over a heartwarming moment Ryder and Ortega shared while posing for photographers during a photocall at the event.

In livestream footage from the photocall, Ortega and Ryder can be seen smiling and posing before some photographers started loudly asking Ryder to take off the sunglasses she was wearing.

Ryder then appears to be a little frazzled and unsure of what to do, so she turns to Ortega who seemingly says, "No you do not have to," reassuring her on-screen mom and continuing to pose for photos - looking especially chic in those glasses might I add.

Fans online seem to be losing it over the moment, with many praising Ortega for seemingly reminding Ryder that it's okay to have boundaries. fran 🎧 @jennaslipfreckl · Follow

One user on Twitter wrote: "There's something very comforting about the younger generation encouraging the older generation (who were raised to please & say yes) to maintain their boundaries no matter what."

"Kinda sad that a veteran actor feels like they have to follow orders from photographers but kudos to younger gen for empowering them," another wrote.

"I've seen so many interviews where Winona is gushing about how amazing Jenna is, this warms my heart so much," said someone else.

Ryder previously described finding immense fame again after Stranger Things as 'overwhelming,' telling Marie Claire in 2017: "It's so overwhelming. I do not know what it's like for really famous people… I keep hearing that people are dressing up like me [her character on the show, Joyce Byers]. I'm like, 'What?' "

She went on to address the break she took from acting in the early to mid 2000s saying," I did take time off. It was mutual, I think I just went through a tough time.

Jenna Ortega had a savage five-word response to rumors that she's dating Johnny Depp

The actress claimed it was the craziest rumor she ever heard about herself Yasmeen Hamadeh Jenna Ortega had a few words to say on rumors that she was in a relationship with fellow actor Johnny Depp. Last year, celebrity gossip account Deuxmoi posted an anonymous tip that claimed Ortega and Depp were spotted out on a date. Deuxmoi notably does not claim that any of its tips are factual, with their Instagram biography reading: "Some statements made on this account have not been independently confirmed. This account does not claim information published is based in fact." Rumors of a romance between Depp and Ortega circulated last year. (Dimitrios Kambouris / Getty Images) Nonetheless, people ran with the rumors and a slew of articles began popping up on Ortega supposedly speaking out on their relationship In a recent interview with BuzzFeed while promoting her latest film, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

, Ortega spoke out on the situation when asked what the craziest rumor she ever heard about herself was.

"Probably that I was in a serious relationship with Johnny Depp and I wanted everybody to 'leave us alone,'" the Wednesday actress replied.

"It's so insane to me like I never spoke on that, I never said anything like that," she added.

"Articles really do just make up their own quotes, but I thought that was pretty hilarious."

"I was on set with [co-star] Richard E. Grant and he came up to me and he just said 'Oh so you and Johnny,' and I laughed because - I do not know that person," she continued.

Fans online seem to be loving Ortega's response, particularly commenting on her, 'I do not know that person,' remark.

One user on Twitter wrote: "She really said I've never heard of that man in my life."

"She's so real but how sick and twisted does an individual even have to be to make that up," another added. Ortega was notably 21-years-old at the time of the rumors while Depp was 60.

"Now that's how [you] deny a dating rumor," another user chimed in.

Ortega has previously mentioned that she does not plan on ever addressing her love life publicly, explaining that she worries it would eclipse her work.

While speaking to Vanity Fair in a 2024 interview, the actress shared: "I don't plan on speaking about my love life publicly, because that's mine."

"When you know too much about someone's personal life, then you watch films and you can only see them [the celebrity side of them], there's nothing worse," she added.Featured Image Credit: Dimitrios Kambouris / Getty Images / Rich Fury / Getty Images

Jenna Ortega leaves viewers disturbed after watching her x-rated scene with Martin Freeman

Fans could not quite believe the scenes she featured in alongside Martin Freeman Gerrard Kaonga Jenna Ortega fans are still trying to pick their jaws up off the floor after seeing just how steamy her scenes were in a film from earlier this year. Jenna Ortega was able to win over fans of all ages through the success of Netflix 's Wednesday,as well as her part in the Scream franchise.

Suffice it to say, these fans were not prepared to see just how saucy - or whatever you want to call it - she gets with British actor Martin Freeman in 2024 film Miller's Girl.

The film sees Ortega star as a talented 18 year-old writer, Cairo Sweet, who is guided by her mentor and teacher Jonathan Miller, played by Freeman.

The film centers much around their relationship and plays very close to the line about what is and is not appropriate for student teacher relations.

For people with the oddest shipping of the two actors, this is likely a dream come true, for the rest of us, its just a lil bit awkward.

One part of the Miller's Girl sees the two actors engage in a steamy scene but as characters from a story that Sweet has written rather than their characters in the film.

The film was released in the US on January 26, 2024. (Lionsgate)
This did not stop social media users expressing their shock and discomfort of the two actors ... well acting.
"Bro I did not need to see Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman getting it on the tl," one user wrote.

“MILLER'S GIRL SPOILER. This scene is f-ing crazy #jennaortega # MillersGirl, ”another added.

“I feel very weird while watching this or it just me ?? sorry but not sorry bruh! A third wrote.

Despite the disgusted reactions from some users, others found it hilarious people were losing their heads over a scene from an essential erotic thriller drama.

“NO, NO, NO, NO, NO! Jenny Ortega, how dare you act such a scene. That's it, You are grounded, grounded, grounded, grounded, grounded, grounded, grounded until the next season of Netflix Wednesday Series, ”one frustrated fan wrote.

Another commented: "An erotic thriller starring Martin Freeman and Jenna Ortega lol like what were people expecting."

"People know she's 21 and she's and actress right, she's not a Wenesday," another commented.

Regardless of where you fall on the debate, since it's release, the movie hasn't been a hit with fans or critics.

It currently holds a score of 29 percent on the Rotten Tomatoes' and 42 percent audience score.

It does not fare much better on IMDb either with a score of only 5.2 out of 10.Featured Image Credit: Lionsgate
