Winona Ryder reveals Jeff Bridges 'refused' to kiss her in an audition for one very good reason

Winona Ryder reveals Jeff Bridges 'refused' to kiss her in an audition for one very good reason

There's a 22-year age gap between the two Hollywood actors

While I'm sure hundreds of people would queue up to kiss Winona Ryder, there was one A-list celebrity who refused to do so.

Stranger Things star Ryder has been in the film industry since she was a teenager and starred in her first movie Lucas at the age of 15.

She's since had roles in movies like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and Black Swan to name a few, and will soon return to the big screen for Beetlejuice's long-awaited sequel that hits theaters on Friday (September 6).

Ahead of its release, Ryder featured on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, where she reflected on her decades-long career.

Discussing some of the auditions she's done in the past, Ryder recalled an audition she did for the 1993 movie Fearless alongside Jeff Bridges.

The 52-year-old told Horowitz: "Jeff Bridges, who I love, wouldn't kiss me."

Explaining why, Ryder went on: "I was too young. At the end of the scene he was supposed to kiss me and I was like [waiting to be kissed].

"He kissed my forehead. He’s like, ‘You’re, like, my daughter’s age.’ And I was like, 'No!'"

Bridges is proud father to three daughters; Isabelle, 43, Jessica, 41, and 38-year-old Hayley.

While Ryder isn't quite the same age as his kids, we understand where he was coming from.

Elsewhere on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ryder revealed what some of her text exchanges with Keanu Reeves looks like.

The two celebrities starred in Bram Stoker's Dracula in 1992 together and have been friends ever since.

She explained that she jokingly refers to Reeves as her 'husband' after the pair supposedly got hitched while filming Dracula together over 30 years ago.

"On his birthday it's always like 'Happy Birthday, my husband!' and I'll [sign it off] Noni," Ryder shared.

"He's always like 'Hey, wife! Love you KR57'. On each birthday he's like 'KR57' or whatever his age is. He's always done that."

Speaking of Reeves, Ryder was also asked if she'd ever star in one of his John Wick movies - and it seems as if she's not rushing to do so.

She admitted that she'd only do it if it 'didn't involve any stunts' as she was 'thinking about [her] bones'.

Winona Ryder reveals heartwarming message she sent to 'husband' Keanu Reeves after being married for three decades

The Hollywood stars wed while filming 1992 movie Dracula
Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves are still going strong after over 30 years of marriage.

OK, I'll admit that it's unclear if the pair are actually married, but the two Hollywood stars are sure under the impression that they accidentally wed one another while filming Dracula together in the 90s.

How on earth did this happen, I hear you ask?

When they were shooting the movie, their characters married each other and for the scene a genuine Romanian priest was brought in.

"We actually got married in Dracula," Ryder shared previously.

"No, I swear to god I think we’re married in real life. In that scene, Francis [Coppola] used a real Romanian priest. We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So, I think we’re married."

While Ryder and Reeves aren't actually romantically involved with one another, the pair are still great friends and jokingly call each other 'husband' and 'wife' in light of their apparent wedding ceremony over 30 years ago.

Ahead of the release of her newest movie Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (the sequel to 1988 cult classic), Ryder was asked about her relationship with Reeves and if she'd ever star in a John Wick movie with him.

Interviewer and podcast host Josh Horowitz asked: "Could you ever seen yourself in [the John Wick] world?"

"If it didn't involved a lot of stunts," Ryder replied. "I'm thinking of my bones."

She went on: "I would literally do anything with [Reeves]. He's so special."

Horowitz proceeded to ask Ryder what the text exchanges are like between her and the The Matrix favorite.

"We do text [...] We always say who it is, even though it says it on the text," Ryder shared.

"On his birthday it's always like 'Happy Birthday, my husband!' and I'll [sign it off] Noni. He's always like 'Hey, wife! Love you KR57'. On each birthday he's like 'KR57' or whatever his age is. He's always done that."

Cute alert.

While the two celebrities are 'married', Reeves is dating Alexandra Grant.

It's thought the two started dating around 2019 and Grant has since accompanied her A-list boyfriend to several red carpet events.

Meanwhile Ryder has been with her partner Scott Mackinlay Hahn for 15 years.

Keanu Reeves refused to shout insults at Winona Ryder to make her cry

The pair have remained good friends ever since
Keanu Reeves proved his 'good guy' reputation was for a reason after he refused to make Winona Ryder cry on the set of a film they starred in together.

Hollywood legends Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder worked together on the 1992 film adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula and have remained friends ever since.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, the Stranger Things actress shared a story from the film set that further cements the widely known Hollywood secret that her pal is a genuinely lovely guy.

In one scene, Gary Oldman's Dracula was meant to turn into a pile of rats, leaving Mina Harker (played by Ryder) in tears. But on the day of filming, the actress just couldn't get the waterworks going.

So, director Francis Ford Coppola brutally suggested that her co-stars should shout insults at the actress to make her cry and, himself, called her a 'whore'. How delightful.

When Coppola asked Reeves to join in on the name-calling, the Matrix actor apparently refused.

"To put it in context, I’m supposed to be crying," she said. "Literally, Richard E. Grant, Anthony Hopkins, Keanu [Reeves]… Francis was trying to get all of them to yell things that would make me cry. But Keanu wouldn’t, Anthony wouldn’t.

"It just didn’t work. I was, like, really? It kind of did the opposite."

She went on to explain that she and Coppola are on good terms now and her friendship with Reeves blossomed following the incident.

The friends have worked together on a number of occasions also starring in Destination Wedding, A Scanner Darkly and The Private Lives of Pippa Lee.

And, in another bizarre incident from the filming of Dracula, it turns out Reeves and Ryder might have accidentally gotten married.

Explaining what might have happened in an interview with Esquire, Reeves said: "We did a whole take of a marriage ceremony with real priests [during the filming of Dracula].

"Winona says we are. Coppola says we are. So, I guess we’re married under the eyes of God."

Ryder has confirmed the pair are married during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"We actually got married in Dracula. No, I swear to god I think we’re married in real life. In that scene, Francis used a real Romanian priest," she said. "We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So, I think we’re married."

Keanu Reeves admits he's been married to Winona Ryder for almost 30 years

The actor joked that one movie scene may have actually counted as a wedding, well, at least in the eye of God
Keanu Reeves has revealed that he may have been married to Winona Ryder for some 30 years.

The star of The Matrix and John Wick shared that he and Ryder may have inadvertently married... well, at least in the eyes of God.

It seems a little far-fetched as you might think that you would be aware that you were married to someone.

But it turns out in this case there may be an understandable reason why Wick was not aware of his and Ryder's nuptials.

Now, actors can put themselves through a lot for a role.

Whether it's dialect coaches, losing or gaining weight, learning a whole new skill, or with some 'method' actors getting frankly a bit extreme.

But getting married is a rather permanent commitment to a role.

So, how on earth did the pair end up potentially tying the knot and not know for three decades?

It's from a moment in a film that they both starred in way back in the 90s.

If you like drama, shouting, weird victorian pseudo-science, and Gary Oldman with long curly hair then look no further than Francis Ford-Coppola's 1992 film Bram Stoker's Dracula.

The movie is a flawed but spectacular adaptation of the OG vampire story, starring Gary Oldman as Dracula himself, with Anthony Hopkins as his nemesis Van Helsing.

Keanu Reeves plays the unfortunate Jonathon Harker, an estate agent who travels to Dracula's castle in the Carpathian Mountains to assist him in the purchase of an estate in London.

Ryder plays Mina Murray, Jonathan's fiancé at the start of the story.

The pair marry after Jonathan escapes Dracula's castle and is recovering in a nunnery.

The scene was dramatised in the film with a real Orthodox priest carrying out the wedding.

Speaking about this to Esquire, Reeves said: “We did a whole take of a marriage ceremony with real priests. Winona says we are. Coppola says we are. So, I guess we’re married under the eyes of God.”

You might be thinking that they only did the bits necessary for the film, but Ryder claimed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that this is not the case.

While promoting the movie Destination Wedding, that the pair starred in, she said: “We actually got married in Dracula. No, I swear to god I think we’re married in real life. In that scene, Francis used a real Romanian priest.

“We shot the master and he did the whole thing. So, I think we’re married.”

Well, congratulations to the happy couple on their pearl wedding anniversary!Featured Image Credit: Amanda Edwards/WireImage/Ron Galella/Getty Images

Quentin Tarantino reveals the one movie he refuses to ever watch and explains why

Tarantino's comments come despite the movie having a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score
Quentin Tarantino has revealed the unexpected movie he refuses to watch, and many movie fans have agreed with his opinion.

Tarantino is the brains behind cult classics like Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill, and many of his movies are filled with blood and gore.

With this in mind, many might be surprised that he has a soft spot for a well-loved animated series.
Quentin Tarantino recently spoke of his love of Toy Story (Laurent KOFFEL/Gamma-Rapho via Getty Images)

The franchise in question? No other than the iconic Toy Story.

In fact, while Tarantino admitted that he generally doesn't have a lot of time for animated movies, he has labeled Toy Story 3 as 'magnificent' and 'one of the best movies [he's] ever seen' - quite the statement for a moviemaker of his caliber.

But what's the movie he refuses to watch, I hear you ask? The answer to that is Toy Story 4.

Arguably this doesn't make sense since Tarantino enjoyed the first three movies so much - the third in particular - but people actually understand his reasoning.

Speaking about the franchise on Bill Maher's Club Random podcast, the director said: "I don’t watch all the animated movies and stuff, but I’m a big fan of the Toy Story trilogy."

He continued: "In the case of Toy Story, the third one is just magnificent. It’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. And if you’ve seen the other two, it’s just devastating."

For any Pixar fans out there, you'll know Andy donates his Woody, Buzz and the rest of the crew to Bonnie.

Watching Andy drive away, Woody says his famous catchphrase: "So long, partner."

Is someone cutting onions?
Quentin Tarantino described the ending to Toy Story 3 as 'devastating' (Disney/Pixar)

And it's Tarantino's love of Toy Story 3 that's stopped him from watching Toy Story 4.

"The thing is, then three years later or something they did a fourth, and I have no desire to see it," he said. "You literally ended the story as perfectly as you could, so no, I don’t care if it’s good. I’m done."

Toy Story 4 boasts 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes - just one percent lower than Toy Story 3's almost-perfect score.

While the fourth instalment of the franchise is hugely popular, many film fans understood where Tarantino was coming from.

Someone wrote on Twitter: "I completely agree!!!! Sometimes it is better to leave it on a high note than churning out more movies just for profits."

Another person agreed: "I didn't mind Toy Story 4, but we didn't need it. And we certainly don't need a 5."

Noting the end of of Toy Story 3, someone else said: "I agree 100%. Andy driving off is the ending."

Who is going to break it to Tarantino that Toy Story 5 is currently in the works?
